morphology (linguistics)

In linguistics, morphology is the study of words, their formation and how they relate to other words.  It looks at the structure of words and the way they can broken down into their parts including root words, stems, and affixes. Morphology also covers parts of speech, the context in which words are used and for the spoken word, intonation and stress.
