angular frequency

In physics, the angular frequency, also known as angular speed, and usually represented as \omega, is the rate of rotation of an object. In circular rotation, it is a measure of the angular displacement of an object per unit time while in other instances it is the rate of change of the phase of a sinusoidal waveform.

Angular frequency is a scalar quantity. It is the magnitude of the angular velocity vector.
